After its 1st World
Road Congress in 1908, PIARC has organised a
World Road Congress every four years in one of the
member countres in order to present the achievements
and findings of the past four years and make
plannings for future activities.
As a complementary program, PIARC
has also been organising an International
Winter Road Congress once every four years
since 1967 in order to exchange the latest
information on winter road maintenance.
PIARC's most important activity is
operating
Technical Committees that undertake
studies and prepare reports and papers on various
topics related to roads and road transport issues.
These Technical Committees arrange seminars in order
to promote one of PIARC's main aims, i.e. technology
transfer among the member countries.
PIARC produces a wide range of
publications and software products,
including a quarterly
magazine "Routes/Roads", HDM-4 model
package, reports of Technical Committees, Congress
proceedings and dictionaries of technical terms. |
